EVALUATION –
DIMITAR
What went well? What did not?
We are London – After weeks of pre-production for the
multicam show, we have finally produced a final piece of the MULTICAM TV SHOW.
Everyone in our team was doing their job from the beginning itself. Starting
with my job which was a floor manager, I had to take care of multiple different
tasks starting with the main one which was to communicate with the crew in the control
room through the headphones and let them know in terms of when we are ready
with the set-up of cameras as well as rely on instructions using the talkback
system. Tripods, furniture, tables and so on as well as any lights facing the
presenter as well as the contestants.
My role also included
tasks such as doing countdowns to the present and contestant letting them know
we are ready to start (being live). As a
floor manager, I also had to make sure I checked the equipment beforehand and
made sure microphones, earpieces are fully working before the show has started.
In terms of audience as we had one, it was required to seat them to the
allocated seats as well as hold up signs such as applause and silence when
appropriate. I had to keep the director informed through the earpiece about any
issues on set for example problems with cameras, lights or audio as we
experienced a few issues with the sound at the beginning for example the
contestant’s mics were not going through and producing any sound.
The overall production went well with having a real audience
to watch and give feedback, having a solid topic to discuss the issues and
cover the time frame which I believe our team managed to successfully cover.
The organisation was quite well executed with having properly rehearsed the
production. Everyone in the team knew what they were doing and the camera
people were positioned at the 3 different cameras and they were getting
instructions if they had to either zoom out or in from me, and this information
received was from the director.
We of course had a couple of issues with one of them being discussed
already about contestant microphones not properly working at the beginning
which took a few minutes luckily we were all set shortly after. During breaks,
tables and sofa were successfully removed to allow enough space for the
contestants to perform and music was played at the right volume and stopped
accordingly which was very well executed, along with the lights.
This whole production was a very good experience within the
TV Industry for me because it gave me an insight on how complicated it is to
execute a LIVE Show and perfect it in terms of the technical aspect with having
everything working such as sound, cameras, lights and just working with a big
crew taught me of how important it is to work within a team and keep deadlines.
